The Future of Toronto is Connected Communities – Woodbine Community Plan

Welcome to the Woodbine of tomorrow. We’re creating new mid-rise urban neighbourhoods, designed for people’s daily needs and the planet’s well-being, that offer an abundance of entertainment and work opportunities – all supported by incredible transit connections, including a new GO station. Let’s imagine what this new connected community could be, together.

What’s happening at Woodbine

We are building an urban community for all of Toronto around Woodbine racetrack – half of this 684-acre site will become new neighbourhoods with housing, employment space and parks, along with upgraded horse racing facilities. Long-term ownership means we can generate sustainable, long-term value for our horse racing community and benefit people who live and work in North Etobicoke.

Why what we’re doing is special

An inclusive, vibrant community will grow and flourish here. A diverse mix of housing, shops and restaurants, employment opportunities, parks and civic spaces will support thousands of people in this new urban hub. Woodbine will bring everything they need for their daily lives to their doorstep.

We aspire for these new neighbourhoods to be a model for sustainable urban living that prioritizes walking and biking, with easy ways to connect with nature and each other.

A new Woodbine GO station will become a regional transit hub. The GO, UP Express, regional buses and the nearby Finch LRT will connect people across the GTA and beyond. Future residents and workers will have easy and convenient access to jobs, shopping, parks and more – without driving.

As a regional entertainment destination, Woodbine is where varied careers can thrive. We’re directly connected to the second largest employment zone in Canada, the airport, as well as Canada’s Innovation Corridor, a global centre for tech and more, which stretches from Kitchener-Waterloo to Toronto.

Woodbine is guiding this once-in-a-generation project as a long-term steward of the site. Guided by our vision for an inclusive Toronto, we will invite partners and local residents into the process. At Woodbine, we will share our success with surrounding neighbourhoods and our horse racing community.

Woodbine history

Woodbine has been part of Toronto for more than 140 years. We have evolved from a picturesque little horse racing track in east Toronto to a world-class entertainment destination offering the very best dining, entertainment and horse racing experiences in North Etobicoke.

For decades, Woodbine has been a community for horse racing, supporting urban and rural economies, and maintaining approximately 25,000 jobs.

Now it will be a community for all of Toronto, as we embark on this new chapter.
